Function / Content

This series consists of Tamarind Centre client files, including children referred to the Specialist Child, Adolescent and Family Services (SCAAFS), counselling services to the community, and rehabilitation services provided to sex offenders. The files are fragile and brittle due to fire and water damage. SCAAFS was a specialist mental health service to provide assessment and intervention for child and adolescent clients to assist them and their families to cope and/or adjust to emotional, behavioural, psychosocial, learning and/or mental health problems. Includes one file relating to a Former Child Migrant sent from England to Bindoon Boys Town, Western Australia (file no.[80], box no.10). Some language used in these records (which reflects the language used at the time the records were created) may be offensive. This series may contain references to Aboriginal people who have died, which may cause sadness and distress to their relatives. No offence has been intended by making these records available.
